Decarbonizing the global building stock and ensuring new buildings and rebuilds are carbon neutral are thought to be one of the most cost-effective ways to achieve climate targets.
Since buildings and their construction are expensive, have an impact on the lives of their residents, and have an environmental impact, designers, regulators, developers, owners, and tenants are all searching for ways to create "smart" and "green" living spaces.
As smart and green building technology is combined with improved networks that allow for future adaptability, “intelligent” buildings are developed that are planned and built to be economically sustainable, minimize negative environmental impacts, and conserve natural resources such as water and energy.
