Typography translates words to artful contact from mere text. The font & type style, from prominent, bold san-serif fonts to delicate serifs, can tell so much. From conventional, timeless variants to methods that are entirely modern.
In modern culture and industry, typography's popularity was influenced by the Bauhaus art movement. Herbert Bayer was a Bauhaus student and, by following the ideals of reductive minimalism, left a popular mark on typography.
Jan Tschichold, another artist, wrote Die Neue Typographie: The New Typography. The book was published in 1928, and it was dubbed "a modern typography and graphic design masterpiece."
