One year ago, on 13 January 2020, Thailand became the first country outside of China to formally report cases of the novel coronavirus. And while most experts still accept that before that date, the virus must have spread outside of China, it still marks a crucial landmark on the road to what many will remember as one of their lifetime's most destructive events.
And although a welcoming light at the end of the tunnel is the arrival of many vaccines and the beginning of mass inoculation programmes worldwide, the virus remains an immediate danger for the time being.
