After the deadly U.S. protests, The social media app Parlor, advertised as a free speech forum, Capitol, which ended in five deaths, was banned from both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store after being linked to white nationalist groups promoting the riots and inciting further violence. Google and Apple explained the change by arguing that Parlor's executives failed to impose proper rules of moderation to discourage hate speech and the dissemination of disinformation that could lead to future national violent protests. It is uncertain if Parlor would look to strengthen its moderation and reapply to Google or Apple for listing.
