Top 10 Worst Data Breaches of All Time #infographic

2019 is on track to be the worst year for violations of records. According to a Risk Based Security survey, the number of data breaches in the first six months of the year is up 54 percent compared to the same period in 2018, and the number of data records exposed is up by 52 percent. More than 3,800 data breaches were recorded in those six months, revealing over 4.1 billion documents.

Data breaches may reveal information that ranges from the mundane to the worst possible, such as banking information, such as a public email address. Although data breaches may sound like a new problem for years they've been around. And though major names like Facebook, Capital One and Equifax are now top of mind, since the early 2000s, there are plenty of other well-known brands that have been struck.

This chart reveals the worst data breaches of all time, dating back to 2008, affecting over 6.5 billion individuals in total. 100 million individuals have been affected by even the smallest data breach on our list. A lot of people are concerned about it.
