Although the coronavirus death toll in the United States returned to May levels in August, death counts in Europe have only recently begun to rise again. Detected COVID-19 infections on the continent have risen in numbers for a while, but deaths have been slow to follow suit.
Brazil, the third country most affected by the virus, has undergone one continuous disease wave, with death counts continuing for months at a high pace. Fewer have been reported most recently. Germany has witnessed considerably lower death rates in the COVID-19 epidemic than its European counterparts, according to data available on World meters.
