UNICEF has published a recent study showing that lead poisoning affects children on a large scale which was previously unknown. This reports that 1 in 3 children have levels of lead in the blood at or above 5 micrograms per deciliter (μg / dL), a level that requires intervention. Close to half of all affected children live in South Asia, as this infographic reveals.
