Imagine a company developing the first artificially intelligent humanoid robot in 20 or 30 years. Name her "Ava." Seems like a human, communicates like a child, interacts like a human being. If you were to meet Ava, you could relate to her, even though you know she's a robot.
Ava is a fully aware, fully self-conscious being: it communicates; it wants stuff; it is forming itself. Importantly, she is much smarter than her human makers, too. Her intelligence and problem-solving ability is greater than any living human being's combined efforts.
