Cyberattacks come in many shapes and sizes, but one of the most common vehicles is through sending viruses in dangerous emails. This type of malware can infect your computer via links within junk mail, but simply opening the email can do just as much harm.

Protecting yourself from these emails can be done easily by creating inbox filters, reporting dangerous emails, not advertising your mail address, and managing existing messages.

Panda Security recounts that 18 million emails are blocked on Gmail servers per day. However, spam and other unwanted emails still manage to get through their servers.

To create personalized filters on Gmail, start by locating the three dots on the right-hand side of the unwanted message. Next select “filter messages like this”. From there, you can create your own settings or use the rules that Gmail auto-populates.
