Phoenix is a pretty big city and if you have a lot of area to cover, you might want to consider renting a car. That said, Phoenix has a public transit system for the Valley Metro, which includes buses and light rail. Be warned that the public transit system does not cover most areas frequented by tourists.
Also accessible is a free Downtown Area Circulator (DASH), which includes Central Avenue, 1st Avenue, and State Capitol Complex. Although using mobility apps like Lyft and Uber may be more cost-effective, using a taxi, you can also get around.
