The Humanization of Pets

New products and services and changes in animal-owners ' behaviour, particularly in animal health and wellness, open up numerous possibilities in the pet-segment. According to Advantage Solutions ' infographic' The Humanisation of Pets,' almost 70 percent of American households have at least one pet. Nine out of ten dog owners and cat owners consider their animals to be a "family"— with almost half dog owners finding it harder to leave their pet for a week than their human partners.

The vast majority of pet owners (84%) believe that manufacturers must do more to guarantee the safety of pet food and treatments. Almost 3/4 want to know about the origin and treatment of pet foods. The same proportion of animal owners would like pet food to continue to function as their domestic animals get older. "The Personalization of Pets" shows statistics coming from various sources, including the Advisory Pets Solutions SMARTeam, A.T. Kearney, Common Sense, e-Marketing, Gerber, Google Surveys, Mintel, Packaged Facts,  rover.com, Simmons, U.S. Census and Statista, National Pet Owners Survey 2017-2018.
