This increase also far exceeds the average earnings of employees: CEOs estimate that AFL-CIO earn 287 times the average worker. This is an estimate of 30 to 1 compared to 1978. Naturally, the payment of a CEO differs greatly from the average person. They are not employees who are hourly or even strictly wage: instead they have various basic wages, bonuses and even stock options as compensation.

Ironically, many of the most important companies ' CEOs receive the least compensation. In our view, you will see that both Larry Page Alphabet and Jack Dorsey Twitter only received one dollar. In technology, when managers often hold big inventory quantities in the business and see an increase in stock value over salary for compensation, such a smaller CEO's compensation is more prevalent.

This year, only three of the top 25 CEOs came from technology: instead, the bulk came from medical, media and economic enterprises. The #1 place is CEO David Zaslav of Discovery Channel. Zaslav received almost twice as the second largest earner, Stephen F. Angel, from Linde Chemical Company with an award of $129.4 million.
