Is It a Cold or the Flu?

Grippe and cold are both respiratory diseases but are caused by various bacteria. Due to the comparable symptoms of these two kinds, it is hard for symptoms alone to distinguish between them. In particular, flu is worse than the ordinary cold, with more intense symptoms.

Normally, colds are milder than flu. People with colds have a runny or stuffy nose more probably. In general, colds do not lead to severe issues of health, such as pneumonia, bacterial infection or hospitalization.

Since colds and influenza have a number of diseases, distinguishing between them on the basis of symptoms can be hard (or even impossible). Special tests, generally carried out in the first few days of the disease, can say whether a individual has influenza.
