If you're worried that your credit score might prevent you from buying a car, you're underestimating how much car dealers want you to sell. But almost definitely a greater rating will get you a reduced interest rate. At the end of 2018, according to an Experian report, the average credit score for a new car loan was 713, and 656 for a used car loan. But, according to Experian, almost 20 percent of car loans go to borrowers with credit scores below 600. Nearly 4% go to those with results below 500.
