Universal Basic Income

Nearly half of Americans endorsed the concept of a Universal Basic Income program in a 2018 survey-where did this concept come from and what would it mean for today's society? For millennia, there has been the concept of a Universal Basic Income (UBI). Back in 1516, Thomas More's "Utopia" philosophizes on the benefits of a minimum income.

In 1796 Thomas Paine wrote a basic endowment for all adults over the age of 21, and in 1967 Martin Luther King Jr. named guaranteed income as the ultimate solution to poverty. Today, with the fresh increasing threat of a fresh industrial revolution, many are calling for UBI: automation. But some vital precepts must be met to make this idea job.

Aid should be provided in actual cash instead of vouchers for products or services and there should be no necessity for revenue or jobs. Learn how UBI is being tested by countries and cities and how it would affect our society here.
