Early Friday, the Trump administration more than increased a U.S. tariff on Chinese imports of $200 billion, from 10% to 25%, significantly escalating a trade war between the two nations. The president also threatened to slap a tariff of 25 percent on nearly all the remaining 325 billion dollars in products shipped from China. Negotiators for the United States and China finished a trade talks session in Washington on Friday, hours after the fresh tariff hike came into effect, without announcing an arrangement.
