All you need to know about blood donation

The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates the 14th of June each year as World Blood Donor Day. The World Blood Donor Day was set up in 2004 to increase awareness of the need for secure donation of blood and to thank all blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving donation of blood.

On June 14, 1868, the World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on Karl Landsteiner's birthday. He was an Austrian and American biologist and doctor who won the Nobel Prize for his ABO blood group system discovery.
