Since 9000 B.C.E. to be exact, scientists have been searching for the elements that make up our world for a very long time. Copper was the first component to be found, followed by gold, silver, iron, and lead other common metals. These components were common materials that have been used by humans for many thousands of years.
This infographic explores the timeline of discovering all the elements on the Periodic Table, where they were found, and who made the discovery. While between 9000B.C.E. there were a couple of components found. And 10000 C.E., we see no other discoveries until the 1700s, after which most of the elements on the Periodic Table were discovered over the next three centuries.
Interestingly, it was not until 1869 that the Periodic Table was created after the discovery of most of the elements. For the elements that future scientists would discover, Dmitri Mendeleev created the table and left blank spots. Take a time trip of how the periodic table came together and celebrate the many people along the way who discovered the elements.
