In 2012, over 117 million LinkedIn users ' passwords were abused by a huge cyber attack by a hacker called "Peace." After the dust settled from the initial attack, new protocols were put in place and in the public eye the breach was all but forgotten, the same hacker reared his head. Nearly five years later, "Peace" started to release the same LinkedIn users ' stolen password data from the previous hack.
With millions of user data (or billions, in Facebook's case) floating around the internet, the need for tight social media platform safety is evident. Facebook alone reported every day getting over 600,000 attempts at security hacking. (Compared to the NSA's 300 million attempted hacks each day, that's nothing.
