The visible surface of the sun, or photosphere, is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, while the core is about 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. That's as warm as boiling water over 40,000 times. The energy produced in the core generates essentially all the heat and light that we receive on Earth— every second you would have to explode 100 billion tons of dynamite to match the energy output of the sun.
