The special relationship between Copper and electricity has been evident since ship developers started installing copper frequently in the mid 19th century to safeguard the masts of wooden vessels from lightning. Of course, today you may be more used to seeing electrical applications from copper through the use of energy lines, telephone wires, and wiring in virtually every significant home appliance you own.
Millions of tonnes are used annually for these apps, but the use of copper in electrification is still early days. This is because, thanks to the increasing acceptance of battery-powered cars, copper will continue to be a critical element of the green power revolution.
